Gold Coast Springbrook Road Works
In the event of a Q100 flood Gold Coast Springbrook Road (GCSR) will be vulnerable to flooding after the Stage 3 Upgrade is complete. To help keep the road high and dry we are about to commence works to raise the road by about two metres. The work has been subcontracted and will begin in September and is expected to take about 10 weeks. The works will upgrade approximately 500 metres of GCSR and will include widening, relocating services, upgrading the culverts and extending the existing storm water drain whilst maintaining access for residents and the keepers who source eucalyptus for the koalas who are residents at Dreamworld. To raise the road level the rock base will be sourced from the quarry on-site at HDS3 and trucked to the GCSR site.
May 2009
Pocket Road Bridge Realignment
The Hinze Dam Stage 3 (HDS3) project will raise the dam wall which will increase the dam’s full supply level (FSL). A higher FSL means that raising road profiles in some sections around the Hinze Dam is necessary to ensure road surfaces are not damaged or submerged due to an increased FSL. This work will include the realignment of Pocket Road Bridge, and new road surfaces adjacent to it. Works will continue from May to October 2009 (dependant on weather conditions and the tender process) and will include the construction of a new concrete bridge, widening of the Nerang Murwillumbah Road at the Pocket Road intersection and minor traffic diversions adjacent to construction.

Upper Intake Tower Construction Exclusion Zone
A land and water construction exclusion zone is now in place surrounding the Upper Water Intake Tower due to its location and proximity to the temporary boat ramp. The exclusion zone is in place for the safety of the public and site workers so please remember to stay 50 metres away from the Upper Intake Tower, shoreline and associated works in this area.
